I am learning the essentials of successful online marketing. It is both exciting and calming to add one brick after another into this “virtual business” I am building.
One of the first and most important aspects of a successful internet based business is the L-I-S-T! Many times the phrase “The money’s in the list” has been bantered around; and for good reason. So powerful is the list, that it is said that 99% of successful long term online businesses have them.
So what’s all the hullabub about a list? Why even bother?
1. I’ll repeat-99% of of people who succeed long term online have a list of their own.
2. Your advertising costs will be eliminated – you can promote whatever you want, whenever you want to your list.
3. You will become sought after as a valuable JV partner. Once you have a list the top dogs will seek you out.
Ok, so you agree, a list is at the top of the list (wink) of building a great and thriving business online. So what do you need to get started?
First, let’s talk about what it will be like to have a list. You will stay in touch with your subscribers, and let them get to know, like and trust you. You will give help and value to your subscribers. I return, they will trust you, follow your advice and buy from you. You will be a source and a resource for your list.
To build the relationships with the list, we first need to build the list. You will need:
1. A Squeeze Page – to collect subscriber email addresses.
2. An Autoresponder – To capture leads and sent follow up messages.
3. Something of value to give to a subscriber as an incentive to sign up
4. Email messages – you can send automatically to people who join your list.
5. Great products to promote to your list. In order to sell things, provide helpful articles about a problem or situation, then offer the help solve it by suggesting a product. Let the sales copy do the heavy lifting; simply create curiosity.
6. Targeted Traffic – people who you know want/need what you have to sell. The essential online skill.
7. Persistence – commit daily to the activities that build your list and your future.
